About This Game

Dive into the fascinating world of ants with "Ant Colony Simulation," a dynamic and challenging real-time simulation where you guide a burgeoning ant colony through the trials of survival and expansion. Your primary goal is to protect and nurture your Queen, the heart of your colony, ensuring she's well-fed so she can continuously birth new ants. But beware – the world outside the nest is fraught with danger, especially from hungry grasshoppers!

Watch your worker ants tirelessly forage for food, bringing it back to the Queen or storing it for future needs. Witness the emergence of specialized fighter ants, ready to defend their home against formidable insect predators. Every decision, from where you click to spawn food to how your colony manages its resources, directly impacts its survival.

Gameplay Features

• Dynamic Ant AI: Observe realistic ant behavior as workers search for food, carry resources, and adapt to their environment.
• Queen Management: Keep your Queen fed to ensure a steady supply of new ants. Be mindful of her hunger, as a desperate Queen might resort to cannibalism, and prolonged starvation leads to game over!
• Worker & Fighter Ants: Manage your colony's population with two distinct ant types. Worker ants are essential for gathering resources, while fighter ants provide crucial defense against threats. The Queen intelligently adjusts birth rates based on colony needs.
• Predator Threat: Face off against menacing grasshoppers that actively hunt your ants and even target your Queen.
• Combat System: Ants will engage grasshoppers in real-time combat. Fighter ants are more robust, but even worker ants will drop their tasks to defend the colony when a threat is detected.
• Resource Management: Collect food from various sources, including regular food items and larger "Giant Food" (defeated grasshoppers!). Utilize a food storage system to stockpile resources.
• Environmental Interaction: Ants will dynamically interact with grass patches, sometimes getting stuck, which can lead to grass removal.
• Health & Lifespan: Both ants and the Queen have health, and ants have a limited lifespan, adding a layer of challenge to colony management. Ants can even eat food to regain health and extend their lives!
• Adjustable Window: The simulation window is fully resizable, allowing you to enjoy the game in full-screen or a custom window size.
• Pause Functionality: Use the 'F' key to pause and unpause the simulation at any time.

Controls

• Left Click: Spawn a regular food item at the clicked location.
• Right Click: Spawn a hostile grasshopper at the clicked location.
• Press 'F' key: Toggle the game's pause/unpause state.
• Press 'Esc' key: Exit the game (requires confirmation).
• Click the '?' box (top-left corner): Display in-game "How to Play" instructions.

Installation / How to Run

1. Download: Download the game as a .zip archive.
2. Unzip: Extract the contents of the downloaded .zip file to a folder on your computer.
3. Run: Inside the unzipped folder, locate and double-click the game.exe executable file to start the simulation.
